Everyone always tells you how quickly babies change, but you don't understand just how fast it goes until you have one of your own! Last month I posted about the items that had been such lifesavers for us up to that point (you can check that out here) and while we are definitely still using some of those items, Addie has already grown out of some of the zipper swaddles we were using for her! The Woombie that we have still fits, but we're also starting to test out the velcro swaddlers we have as well.
Our second month with Addie has been SO different from the first month.. She's growing and changing so much each day! So without further ado, here are the top 5 items I couldn't have gone without for Addie's second month!

Fisher Price My Little Snugapuppy Deluxe Bouncer
Shout out to my dad for gifting us with this amazing piece of baby gear! I'm kicking myself for not assembling this thing sooner than I did, because Addie LOVES it! When she wiggles and kicks, she bounces herself and she will sit and stare and coo at the little dangly kitty which is basically the cutest thing ever. She will also occasionally cat nap in there during the day, which is an added bonus. This bouncer has the ability to play music and vibrate, but we haven't even put batteries in it yet because she's perfectly entertained as it is :)
Boon Lawn Drying Rack & Accessories
Having mastitis twice was terrible, but one of the silver linings of the whole ordeal was that I really started to get the hang of using my breast pump! I have the Medela Pump In Style Advanced and while I have kind of a love/hate relationship with it, I have to admit it's a great pump. I've been pumping fairly regularly and we give Addie a bottle every once in a while, and with that comes a lot of parts and pieces that need washing and drying. I have a regular dish rack in one side of my sink, but it really doesn't accommodate all of the tiny bits that go along with the pump, and that's where the Boon rack comes in handy. I just have the smaller size lawn rack, and then the twig and flower accessories, but they are so perfect for drying all of my pump/bottle parts and keeping them organized!
Little Remedies Gas Drops & Gripe Water
Almost every mom I know swears by these products and now I know why! While some have it way worse than others, all babies experience gas and Addie is no different. We're lucky that she doesn't struggle with terrible gas or reflux, but she has her gassy days and I hate to see my girl so uncomfortable. Both the gas drops and gripe water help her little tummy so much on those days, and the gripe water also helps if she has any hiccups that she just can't shake!
Happy tummy = happy baby! |
When I was couch bound with mastitis, this pillow was such a life saver. I was nursing constantly for two weeks and the Boppy kept me and Addie comfortable through all of it. I also love propping Addie up in it next to me while I pump, blog, eat, etc. Mike loves using the Boppy when he's sitting down and holding Addie because it gives him the perfect spot to rest his arms! Lou is also a big fan of the Boppy, but he tends to think, that like every other pillow in the house, it's his own personal pillow ;) I was lucky enough to be gifted two of these pillows by some sweet girlfriends and to any expecting mamas out there, I would definitely recommend having more than one! I have one upstairs next to my bed, one downstairs on the couch, and a My Brest Friend nursing pillow (also gifted from a good friend) in the nursery, so no matter where I am in the house I can comfortably nurse.
I finally switched Addie into size 1 diapers (and cried about it) after several days in a row of blow outs. We haven't had many issues since, but before the switch we ended up with A LOT of extra laundry with mustard yellow stains. This pre-treatment stick has been perfect for all of those stains as well as a few leaked milk spots. Who even knew that breast milk would stain your clothes?? I've used Oxi Clean in my laundry forever but I don't really have the time these days to soak any items that need pre-treatment, so this stick is the perfect (and fast!) option for everything from Addie's clothes to Mike's work uniforms!
By no means am I any kind of expert, but I love sharing my own experiences in the hopes that they will help another mom out there, or at the very least, make some people laugh at my poor baby's poop stained jammies! ;) Have a great weekend everybody!
