Hey there!
Yes, we are still alive :) We've been busy getting back in the swing of things since Mike got home!
Homecoming was crazy but then again, it always is. This one was a little more stressful due to a FOUR hour delay, meaning I didn't see Mike until after 4 in the morning, but once he's here none of that matters any more :)
Since then we've been spending as much time together as possible which for us means lots of Netflix, sleeping in as late as possible, and getting outside with our sweet pup.
We've been on lots of walks... |
But there have been just as many (if not more) snuggles :) |
Mike's work schedule has been really relaxed since he returned which is a very welcome change of pace for us :) Currently he is attending Sergeant's Course, a school where he basically is learning different aspects of leadership and gaining knowledge about the Marine Corps, and it means more regular hours and a little extra down time for us.
As for me, I'm getting used to doing the whole 'wife' thing again. Cooking every night instead of just snacking on leftover pizza for an entire week? Laundry for two instead of wearing the same sweats a few days at a time? Definitely a change! But definitely one for the better :)
Now that it's September it means that fall is almost here! Which means lots of baking, soup, and ALL things pumpkin. I've been craving some zucchini bread lately so I'm going to give this recipe for pumpkin zucchini bread a try. I also have my heart set on some homemade tomato soup, although it feels a little weird to make soup when it's still almost 90 degrees outside ;)
Summer weather won't stop me from drinking a pumpkin beer though! ;) |
We are also hoping to take a little "honeymoon" trip down to South Carolina for a long weekend mid-October, so once Mike's leave gets approved (fingers crossed!) we will have that to look forward to! The place we are planning to stay is nestled right in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains so I'm hoping to see some changing leaves, feel some crisp fall air, and get some gorgeous pictures!
Other than that we plan to just take it easy and take in as much of the season as we can. It's so easy to get caught up in work, or chores, or just life in general and before you know it, fall is over! I really want to just slow down and enjoy every moment, but I say that every year so we'll see how it goes ;)
Last year, I made a fall bucket list and we actually ended up checking off a few things.. You know I can't resist a good list, so I'll try to put together another one for this year and hopefully we can accomplish them all! For now though, I'll just leave you with a picture of the cutest pup of all time :)
