I am a firm believer that once the Fourth of July is over, it's time for fall. Don't get me wrong, I love summer time! Sunshine, beach time, backyard BBQs... Can't get enough of it! There's just something about fall though... Hands down it is my favorite season and currently I am using ALL of my self control to wait until September 1st to start decorating.
Last year, fall kind of just passed me by. I moved cross country halfway through October, then Mike came home, and it was honestly just a whirlwind of getting settled and getting used to each other again for those first couple months. I blinked and suddenly it was Christmas and, while I love Christmas time, I was so sad that I missed out on all of my favorite things!
This year, I am bound and determined to slow the heck down and really enjoy a few months of fall! I've been working on a bucket list for this September through November and while I'm sure it will keep growing, here's what I've come up with so far.
The Beard's Fall Bucket List
Carve a pumpkin.
This may seem completely obvious but, although we made it to our first pumpkin patch last year and purchased several pumpkins, we never ended up carving any of them! What the eff right?? This year, I am going to make it happen!
Go to Mike's Farm & go on a hay ride.
This is something I was completely unaware of last year and I'm so glad I know better now! What could be better than a hay ride in the crisp fall air with some (possibly spiked) hot cider? This is the stuff that dreams are made of people.
Make every recipe pinned to my Pumpkin EVERYthing board on Pinterest.
Mike always teases me that I am a pumpkin addict and honestly, he's right! I've been working on this collection for a while now and I'm ready to tackle it! And yes, I even plan on making that pumpkin martini ;)
Watch Hocus Pocus (duh) & play the coordinating drinking game.
Who knew there was a Hocus Pocus drinking game?? I certainly didn't until I stumbled upon it on the blog that I obsessively follow, Little Baby Garvin. Here's the link to her rules, she is basically my hero.
Make a kick ass couple's costume for Halloween.
Last year Mike and I were both going to be Ninja Turtles. I know, right? Unfortunately, that didn't really work out, so Mike went as a Ninja Turtle and I put on some footie pajamas and caked on some makeup and went as a Toddlers & Tiaras contestant.
Yes, my sash says Ultimate Supreme. Duh. |
This year, I will not compromise! I've been looking for some ideas that are just cute enough to make me happy, but not so cute that Mike will refuse... Quite the challenge! The top three contenders right now are Mario & Princess Peach, Pebbles & Bam Bam, and Burglars (think black clothes, face masks, large canvas bags with money signs painted on the side... Oh yeah).
Watch every Broncos game.
This should really go without saying, but we slacked a little bit last year because we only have cable and we don't get every single game broadcasted at home. This year, no excuses! We have a Buffalo Wild Wings right around the corner so there's no reason why we couldn't swing by and see our team dominate!
Make lots and lots of soup!
I am a soup FIEND. I would eat it all day, every day if I could. Like everything else important in my life, I've created a Pinterest board completely dedicated to soup recipes and I'm excited to try each and every one of them!
Donate to a food bank.
Last fall, Mike and I were in the middle of moving in together for the first time. We had furniture to buy, a kitchen to stock, and a lot of adjusting to do so for the first few months our budget was pretty tight. A year later, we've got a routine down and things are finally feeling normal and stable so I want to find a way to give back to our community. When I think of fall I immediately think of food, so donating to some sort of food drive or food bank seems perfectly fitting! :)
So that's what I've come up with so far... Not mentioned on the list is my desire to wear leggings with a knee high pair of Mike's work socks over them every. single. day. ;)
It may not be the longest list, but I'm happy with it! What's on your fall bucket list this year? :)
