So... Let's talk about the mid-deployment slump.
Yes, this is a real thing.
It's sort of like when you're in school and you start to hit the holiday season and you get a nice long winter break, but then out of nowhere it ends and you're right back for the second half of the school year... Does anybody else remember that feeling?
Sort of defeated, completely unmotivated, just a little down? Welcome to the slump :)
My most recent care package.. Not even a piece of glitter in sight! #slackerwife |
I've been in a weird funk since I got back from Colorado and the only thing I really have any motivation to do is lay in my bed with a big bag of kettle cooked jalapeƱo chips... Not the most productive of activities.
I'm not really sure if there's a "cure" for the slump, but what has cheered me up this week has been lots of busy work in the form of drinking beer and spring cleaning, and a randomly sweet gift from Mike in the form of some Colorado flag running shorts :)
Pardon the unmade bed. |
It's the little things!
Now the only trick is holding on to this new found motivation for the next couple of months until my guy is home again! ;) I've been getting a lot done around the house and slowly but surely checking things off of my list. I have another trip to Colorado scheduled at the end of this month for my sister's high school graduation and my WHOLE family will be in town all at once and that hardly ever happens!
On top of all of that my sweet pup turns one next week!! I have to work on his actual birthday, but I plan on doing something special for him (probably in the form of a big, juicy cheeseburger) because he has been my best friend and my (second) favorite guy for the last couple of months! :)
So, happy Cinco De Mayo everybody! I hope your Tuesday is filled with tacos, margaritas, and lots of fun! :)
