On any given weekend you can usually find me and Mike at home, watching movies or binging on Netflix series, snuggling our fur babies on the couch. Over the years we've slowly been turning into complete homebodies and I think my pregnancy has really only added to that. I'm definitely not complaining! Mike works so hard during the week that I gladly jump at any opportunity to spend a lazy day with him, but every once in a while it's nice to do something a little different and that's exactly what we did yesterday with our day date! :)
After sleeping in a little, Mike was off to the gym to squeeze in a quick workout, so I decided to take advantage of the nice weather by getting outside with Lou! We took a nice walk around the neighborhood and played a solid game of fetch in the green space behind our house, two of my sweet pup's favorite pastimes!
Once he was sufficiently worn out, Mike and I got ready and made our way out into town for our much needed day date. We stuffed our faces at Old Chicago, then hit up the movie theater to see 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. These types of movies tend to hit pretty close to home and usually leave me in tears, but I really enjoyed this one and I only cried a little! ;)
A tired pup is a happy pup! And yes, he is laying UNDER our bed.. One of his favorite spots! |
Once the movie was over, it was straight to the barber shop so Mike could get a haircut (we couldn't possibly go a WHOLE day without just a little bit of work sneaking in!), and then finished off our date with delicious milkshakes from Cook Out.
It was just your basic "couple's day out", but sometimes that's all you really need! It was so nice to have an afternoon to ourselves with no to-do list to complete or schedule to stick to, and I know that our opportunities to have a day for just the two of us will be limited once our sweet girl is born! Until then, I'll gladly jump at the chance to get my hubby all to myself, even if just for a simple day date :) Plus, I'll take any excuse to get a little dressed up, belly and all!
March is going to be a busy month for us! Mike is back to his "normal" work schedule, but on top of that we have a ton of baby related appointments and classes scheduled as well! The Naval Hospital offers a ton of free classes for preggos and their spouses, so as soon as I hit the third trimester I signed up for a whole bunch of them! We also have some house projects we want to tackle like finishing the nursery (of course), and mounting the tv in the living room. And as an added bonus, I get to look forward to my 26th birthday at the end of the month! I'm sure we won't do anything too crazy, but I'm hoping that maybe a prenatal massage will be in my future... Hint hint ;)
Part of me can't believe that tomorrow it will be March, but then I look out the window at our gorgeous 70 degree weather and I am so thankful for spring! Happy leap day y'all! :)
