Weekend Recap - Hurricane Matthew

Wow, what a weekend!

In my three years of Carolina living, this was my first hurricane and while I was a stressed out ball of anxiety the whole time, it wasn't too bad! I braved a trip out into town on Wednesday to stock up on bottled water and some essentials and then spent the next couple of days obsessively watching the weather channel to stay updated on the storm. Mike had been in the field without a cell phone for a week at that point and I didn't know whether he would make it home for the weekend or not, but luckily he did and we got to spend it snuggled up with Netflix and homemade pizza - a definite win in my book!

We really didn't see much damage from the hurricane, although some houses in our neighborhood lost parts of their fences and pieces of siding! The weather was crappy all day, but the really crazy wind and pouring rain hit us around 9 p.m. on Saturday and continued through the night. We only lost power for about 30 seconds, and the weather on Sunday was absolutely gorgeous!

Mike went back into work on Sunday night, but it was so nice to have a quiet weekend at home with my sweet little family. We're extremely lucky that we made it through the storm without any damage, but I know that not everyone was so lucky and my heart goes out to those who were affected throughout the state and down the coast.

This week is a pretty exciting one for us - Addie turns 5 months old on Friday, we have plans to hit the pumpkin patch this weekend, and Mike is moving into a new portion of his training which will allow him a little extra time at home with us during the week! I love having so much to look forward to!
