Hey, remember us?

You know, the slacker Beard's that can't blog consistently to save their lives? To be fair, Mike has not and probably will not ever blog buuuut what's mine is yours! Right honey? ;)

Anyway, as busy as we've been there isn't much to write home about. Mike's work schedule is finally back to what he calls "normal" although I think it's a little absurd. Then again I'm not a morning person so the thought of getting up before the sun every day is actually a little scary completely terrifying.

I digress...

Besides Mike's "normal" work schedule, everything has been fairly laid back in the Beard house. Kassie and Tony stayed with us again for about a week before Tony got out of the Marines and they moved to Arizona together. We're coming up on the time when lots of the guys that Mike works with are getting out and heading in their separate ways and some are harder to say good bye to than others :( Luckily, Tony and Kassie got snowed in so we had a few extra days with our friends!

Shortly after that, Mike's mother Carolyn came to stay with us for a short weekend visit. We love having family around and even though we don't get to see ours that often, it's always so much fun when we do! While Carolyn was here we did some shopping (and I got spoiled!), we took her to see the fancy new gym on base and worked out together, we had a delicious taco and margarita night, and we got to eat some yummy, fresh seafood in Wilmington! She was only here for a couple of days but we had such a great time, and hopefully she will be back soon :)

Carolyn, Mike, and me in Wilmington.

The following Friday, Mike and I got to celebrate our very first Valentine's Day TOGETHER! And no, not together like in our relationship, together in the same place! About time, huh? We debated going all out, over the top, wild and crazy to celebrate the occasion but eventually we decided on some dinner reservations, small gifts, and lots of champagne and it was perfect! Mike has started to pick up on my ridiculous totally normal need to decorate for every holiday/season/day of the week and so he got me some beautiful spring decorations, a super yummy candle, and a big box of chocolates!

My spring/Easter decorations and yummy Honeysuckle candle!

For Mike, I picked out an adorably silly card, made him some coupons, and got another box of chocolates for us to indulge in!

Get it? ;)

You may notice that neither of the boxes of chocolates are pictured... We may or may not have devoured them immediately. Oops!

Sorry we're not sorry!
Mike also got to take Monday off of work because of the holiday, so we enjoyed a nice long weekend together before it was back to the grind. All of this week (and through the weekend, UGH) Mike is in the field helping to choose new guys to join the Sniper platoon. Lots of hard work for him and lots of time for me snuggle my fur babies and get caught up on projects around the house! I'm hoping things go well for him and that this week will pass as quickly as possible, obviously because I miss my hubby but maybe a little because I've been promised a Buffalo Wild Wings date when he gets back. YUM! :)

My life until Mike gets home! No complaints :)
