Lately I find myself thinking "You know you're a housewife when..."
Most recently it was "You know you're a housewife when you lose sleep at night thinking about your un-vacuumed carpets". True story. I moved into my house almost a month ago and although I had a trailer and my car packed to the brim with all of my crap stuff, I did not come armed with a vacuum cleaner nor had I purchased one. So basically my carpets had not been vacuumed since the previous owners had them cleaned and God only knows when that was.
Now, Mike and I aren't super dirty people but our house has accumulated what I think is a normal amount of dust, cat hair, and whatever else in the last month. Plus, we had guests and some of those guests had a dog with them. Regardless, I was starting to get dirty floor anxiety and there is no other way to rid myself of it than to finally purchase a vacuum cleaner!
I've been doing some research into different brands and models and I finally decided on a Shark. I was really hoping to find a Shark that is a combination steamer/vacuum mostly because Amy has one and I think it's really cool. After compiling 3 different Bed Bath and Beyond coupons, the hubs and I decided it was time. On our way home from Florence, South Carolina (more on that later) we stopped into our local BB&B and beelined straight for the floor cleaning section. We browsed the different types and after about 45 minutes decided on the Shark Sonic Duo Deluxe Carpet and Hard Floor Cleaner.
It seemed absolutely perfect, apparently it even cleans carpets "5x better than a regular vacuum", plus it was marked down $40! I HAD TO HAVE IT. So we waited in line, used up our coupons, and left the store feeling extremely satisfied! Happily ever after, right? SO, so wrong.
We got back to our little house and I immediately ripped the box open and began to admire my new toy. I couldn't wait to put it together and FINALLY have clean floors upstairs AND down. Cue the ominous music...
I slowly started to realize that what I had so happily purchased was NOT actually a vacuum, but instead a hard floor steamer/carpet steam cleaner. Wow. After a small tantrum complete meltdown and a few four letter words, I repacked the useless item to the best of my ability and pouted for the rest of the night. (My poor husband though... I mean really.)
The next morning, we went back to BB&B armed with a replacement coupon and a determination to walk out with a vacuum NO MATTER WHAT. And luckily, we found one and all was right with the world :) I'll spare you the pictures of the canister after I finally vacuumed the upstairs (it was halfway full after just doing the stairs.... Ew) but I'm feeling pretty darn good and clean and that's all that really matters I guess :)

Oh, and did I mention that I used my mad coupon game and actually MADE $17 while exchanging these products? Yeah, I'm a pretty big deal ;)
In other news, Mike and I were in Florence, South Carolina to attend the Florida Georgia Line concert on Thursday the 8th! I surprised Mike with the tickets as a homecoming present and we had a truly amazing time! We had never been to a concert before and we couldn't have picked a better one for our first. We got to have Mellow Mushroom for dinner (which Mike hasn't had in years), we had amazing seats at the show, we stayed at a nice hotel in walking distance to the venue, AND we even got to have Chipotle for lunch the next day! All in all, it was VERY successful and probably the best way to celebrate his homecoming! :)
